As global warming creates more severe weather disasters and life on the coasts becomes less and less livable we will have giant crises to deal with. This gives New America new responsibilities and new opportunities. If New America safely wrests control of the US military out of the corrupt oligarchic violent maniacs that currently control it we could revamp it into a rescue force of incredible speed and power. Conflict zones could become recovery zones, reversing how things have normally gone. Our armed forces could establish inland safety zones and utillize the navy and air force to safely move people out of harms way. By changing from an oil based strategy of world domination and overwhelming power into a more productive and peaceful force we can grow a reputation as a world ally and people will be relieve to see old America overtaken by something decent. Obviously taking over a fighting force as dangerous an bloodthirsty as the USA’s will require a coordinated effort from many organizations. New America must therefor seek membership from NGOs and international actors and cannot include the corrupt infrastructure and hierarchies of old America. If successful, though, New America could be seen as the champion of those in need and stop being the great evil that people can perceive now.
