Learning Hunimal

September 30th, 2026 by David

I hope to publish this in other better ways in the future but for now, lets try to discuss hunimal with sober open minds. Hunimal is a proposed base 100 numbering system. It provides alternate names for every number. It does not change other mathematical concepts. Variables, algebra, operations, functions, derivatives, knots, graphs and all of geometry remain unchanged, something which dissapoints some people who have grown used to new mathematical developments introducing them to landcapes unknown and unexplored. Instead, hunimal gives us a different way to structure our thoughts about the most domesticated territory in mathematics, arithmetic. Hunimal takes zero to one hundred and delivers zo to hun and it takes the dumbers 0-9 and expands the number of symbols to 00-99 zo to nin, these are called humbers and contain two digits of decimal information in each symbol. Humbers have parts. A ten’s place and a one’s place, and that gives them an order and shape. The ten’s place is in the upper left, where text and reading begin for English and the one’s place ends both the symbol and the words at the lower right, where writing completes its task, hopefully successfully. The reason hunimal appeals to me is not because I cherish transitions or conversions that are unnecessary, but instead the belief that our language (the phonology of our brains!) could make arithmetic facts that span decimal digits into chunks for memorization that can arrive as individual facts and not deductions. I submit to you 12 times 13 being equal to hun fix. I submit to you 14 times 13 being hun goo. I submit to you 16 times 17 being two svoo. The brevity and the pithy nature of these truths makes the possibility of them being remembers similar to how most people remember 6 times 7 or 8 times 9. Why should anyone care, some retort. We dont use 12 *13 or 14*13 very often and it can remain a problem to calculate the solution to and not something learned by rote, but that ignores the potential of the evolving and improving mind. With hunimal the times table expands and the savings of time in relation of facts from one person to another only increase as the scope grows larger.

Instead of viewing math as a headache, I think healthy people view it as an arena of great factual exploration of truth itself. That we might intentionally speed mathematical education up and empower it with this potential should challenge and excite psychologists and math popularizers. Together we literally can put an end to decimation and create a new process of hunimation in place where things can get better faster and under more careful control.

But decimation is seen as a historical occurence out of our control in many people’s minds and it is abstract enough as to seek its end is likely seen as insane. I submit, in response, that crazy is a word that can mean fallible and the gift of fallibility comes with an added benefit of confirmationability! If it can be false and we can investigate it then we can, perhaps, detect whether it can be and is true! To measure more frequently and put to combination more concepts is a tribute to humanity’s best, science and progress. The enlightenment and our continued advances are at stake here! Without decimation our safety might be secured and guaranteed! Our confidence can be buffeted with certainty whic compounds benefits! We can discard the wasting of time that decimal provides and hasten justicer and relief! My life goal is to simply arm you with more tools to think with and to check thoughts with and then, to polish and perfect those newly sharpened tools.
